News Archive On 23rd May 2014, ACM TOMCCAP became ACM TOMM. This acronym change is the result of a discussion within the journal’s Editorial Board, within SIGMM and between the ACM SIGMM Executive Committee and the Editorial Board. It is a process which started already in the year 2011. Two reasons have led to the final decision: 1.) Many scientists, authors and readers have been telling us that the acronym “TOMCCAP” is somehow strange; it does not imply the journal’s focus on Multimedia research, it is too long and complicated; it sounds too specialized for a leading journal which highlights all aspects of Multimedia research. 2.) With this name change we want to emphasize the strong and long lasting collaboration with the ACM Multimedia conference (ACM MM) which we plan to further increase in the future. Up from now, authors are asked to submit articles formatted in a new template. Please find notes in the author's guide. Since we changed to a smaller layout, the page limit is now 23 pages. Starting from Volume 11, print publication will be in black and white while online publication will still be in colour. Please consider this, when preparing your papers and check if figures etc. are legible in black and white. We invite our readership to nominate papers for the TOMM Nicolas D. Georganas Best Paper Award. Nominations of papers published in volume 9 are due at 15-06-2014. The Special Section on the 20th Anniversary of ACM MM is online! Georganas Best Paper Award goes to the article "Exploring interest correlation for peer-to-peer socialized video sharing" (TOMCCAP vol. 8, Issue 1) by Xu Cheng and Jiangchuan Liu. The deadline for the Special Issue on the 20th anniversary of the ACM MM conference has been extended to 1 October 2012. In its initial year the TOMCCAP Nicolas D. Georganas Best Paper Award goes to the paper Video Quality for Face Detection, Recognition and Tracking by Pavel Korshunov and Wei Tsang Ooi. Congratulations! Up from now, we invite researchers to submit comprehensive survey papers to TOMCCAP giving an excellent overview on current and past research on specific aspects of multimedia. Next year (in 2013) we will have a Special Issue on the 20th anniversary of the ACM MM conference. Hence, we request submissions of manuscripts that take a historical view and survey what happened to various multimedia technologies over the last 20 years, or bridges historical and futuristic views on how the past inventions influence the current and future multimedia inventions. Georganas Best Paper Award. Gerald Friedland has received the 2011 TOMCCAP Associate Editor of the Year Award. Congratulations to Gerald for his excellent work! In the current ISI's Journal Citation Report, published in June 2011, TOMCCAP has scored an Impact Factor of 1.400 and a 5-Year Impact Factor of 2.465, which demonstrates its still growing importance. Congratulations to all participating authors, reviewers and Associated Edtitors for this great success! ACM has released the Author-Izer Service. Authors of published TOMCCAP papers can use it to create links to their papers in TOMCCAP's Digital Library on their personal Web page. 2012's special issue will be on 3D Mobile Multimedia, with Shervin Shirmohammadi, Mohamed Hefeeda, Wei Tsang Ooi and Romulus Grigoras as Guest Editors. Prof. Ralf Steinmetz has been elected as the new EiC for TOMCAP, starting from Jan. 1, 2010. Congratulations!
